Get into the Irish spirit with food and drink specials, live music and entertainment, a festive flag raising and a vibrant parade through the heart of the district.

Irish Flag Raising
Kick off the Five Points South St. Patrick’s Celebration at the 11th Annual Irish Flag Raising! Join us at 5:00 p.m. at the flagpole in front of Chick-fil-A in Five Points for a festive ceremony led by the Birmingham Irish Cultural Society. This event is an opportunity to honor this year’s Grand Marshal and get the holiday fun started early! Enjoy a stirring pipe performance, the big reveal of the Grand Marshal and an Irish blessing to set the tone for the festivities ahead.

Irish Cultural Dinner
Join the Birmingham Irish Cultural Society for the 45th Annual Irish Dinner at Protective Stadium for an unforgettable evening hosted on behalf of Kid One Transport.
Enjoy a feast of traditional Irish food, libations, tastings and the sounds of the Perpetual Declans — an Irish musical treat that will have you tapping your toes all night long! You’ll be among friends at a table of eight for $800 or snag an individual ticket for $75. For those who wish to show extra support, sponsorships are available for $1,000.
All proceeds will benefit Kid One Transport, ensuring that children and expectant mothers who lack transportation have access to the medical care they need. Let’s make this year’s celebration one to remember — while giving back to a truly meaningful cause!

A note on parking: Located adjacent to Pickwick Place, the Five Points South Parking Deck provides much needed parking in this historic entertainment district. On Saturday, March 15, the deck will be set up for event parking ($20 upon entry for all-day parking). There is also ample street parking throughout the district, but carpooling is encouraged!
Inaugural St. Patty’s Day Southside 5K
Join the Alchemy Run Crew for the inaugural Southside 5K on the morning of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Five Points South! This exciting new addition to the district’s St. Patrick’s Celebration invites runners of all levels to race through the district’s historic streets before the parade kicks off. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, with the starting line located in front of Hotel Indigo on 20th Street S. Best of all, 100% of the proceeds from the run will be donated to Children’s of Alabama, supporting the continuous care and resources they provide to families.
Lace up your shoes, run for a cause and be part of the festive spirit in Five Points South!
41st Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Put on your green and feel the luck of the Irish at the 41st Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Five Points South on Saturday, March 15! The parade will kick off at 1:30 p.m. on 10th Ave. S., winding aside Brother Bryan Park and up 20th Street South, led by the lively Ian Sturrock Memorial Pipe Band and other local groups. The parade wraps up at 2:30 p.m. – don’t miss the shenanigans!

Spend the whole day in Five Points South celebrating all things Irish. From 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., enjoy Irish-themed food, drinks, live music at local spots and fun activities for little ones too. As an official Entertainment District, open containers are welcome — so you can keep the festivities rolling while the whole family has a blast.
Before the parade, the celebration begins on the Steelhaven Birmingham Entertainment Stage in front of Highlands United Methodist Church. Catch the Westwood Irish Dancers (11-11:30 a.m.) and Hooley (11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.). It’s going to be a shamrockin’ good time!
