Birmingham is celebrating the restoration of the A.G. Gaston Motel, a historic landmark in the Civil Rights District. The building’s restoration has been a long time coming, and it’s a gift for Birmingham to have the preserved motel be a place where people can visit and learn. Congratulations to all the people from the City of Birmingham, the federal government and the community who labored to restore this treasure for many more generations to experience and enjoy. Taking a look back at the history of the Concord Center

Earlier this month, the Concord Center gathered its original team of developers, contractors, and architects to open a time capsule that was buried 20 years ago when the building first opened its doors. The time capsule contained a variety of memorabilia which dated back to the early 2000s. The Concord Center, which opened in 2002 as a new office building in Downtown Birmingham, was a pivotal development in sustaining offices and employment downtown over the last two decades. A planning process to redesign and reactivate Linn Park kicked off recently when public and private organizational partners met on site with the nationally acclaimed park designers OJB Landscape Architecture (OJB) to begin an eight-month master plan development process to improve Linn Park.
