Why your pup wants you to move to Downtown Birmingham

August 22, 2023 · Family Friendly, Live, Visit

Dear Mom,

Woof, woof! I’ve been having an absolute blast visiting my sister in Downtown Birmingham. I can hardly wait to share all the details with you once you return from your vacation. In the meantime, I wanted to put paw to paper and tell you all about it, with the hope of convincing you that moving Downtown could be the most wonderful decision ever.

It’s no surprise that my time downtown has been incredibly enjoyable. According to WalletHub, Birmingham is one of the most pet-friendly cities in the United States! This recognition was based on a comprehensive study of 23 metrics, including factors like vet costs, insurance availability, walkability score, and the number of animal shelters per capita. The possibilities are endless, and already can’t wait until the next time I come back and visit Birmingham.

We went to this really cool park that was under a big bridge called City Walk. There was so much to see and people to meet but I couldn’t get enough of The Barkery. It’s a dog park separated into sections, has a shallow pool and a ton of space to run a play fetch, but my favorite part was the free treats while mom filled out some paperwork and gave them my vaccination papers. I even met Kota, a new friend I made while I was at the park. I can already imagine us spending countless afternoons there, playing, running, and bonding with other dog-loving humans.

And then, there’s Railroad Park. The greenery, the water features, the open areas—it’s like a giant playground for humans and dogs. As I trotted around, I saw families picnicking, kids playing, and other furry friends accompanied by their humans. Just imagine the long walks we’d take soaking in the fresh air and basking in the sun. It’s like a dream come true, Mom!

Oh, and let’s not forget the brewery scene! Yes, I know you enjoy a good brew now and then, but guess what? Many of these breweries are dog-friendly! That means I get to accompany you while you savor your favorite craft beers.

Not to be dramatic, but the moment I set paw in Downtown Birmingham, I felt a sense of belonging. The bustling streets, the friendly faces, and the amazing places we could visit together—it’s all waiting for us. I promise to be your guide, your friend, and your furry source of comfort as we embark on this new adventure together.

So, what do you say? Can we make Downtown Birmingham our new home? Let’s pack up our toys and treats and start this amazing journey!
