Downtown BHM Business Improvement District (BID)
Downtown is home to the Magic City’s only Business Improvement District (BID), the Downtown BHM BID. It includes three sub-districts: City Center, Five Points South and The Switch.
Since 2018, the Downtown BHM BID board of directors has contracted REV Birmingham to manage the BID, from overseeing the CAP Clean & Safe program to facilitating public space improvements to creating this website that helps people navigate and plug into downtown.

CAP Clean & Safe Program
The CAP Clean & Safe Program is a service funded by the Downtown BHM Business Improvement District (BID). Ensuring that downtown feels clean, safe and welcoming is the foundation for creating vibrant places.
Within the boundaries of the Downtown BHM BID, CAP Ambassadors provide services like safety patrols, graffiti removal and hospitality assistance. Click below to learn more about service areas, hours of operation and how to contact CAP.
Rainbow Viaduct Placemaking & Planning
The Rainbow Viaduct, the Richard Arrington Jr. bridge that spans the railroad tracks to connect the north and south sides of downtown, was closed to vehicular traffic in January 2022 due to structural concerns. In November 2023, REV Birmingham worked with the City of Birmingham on a placemaking project to beautify the bridge.
Now, REV is partnering with the City to work toward an engineering and feasibility study to identify viable options for the bridge’s future. Click below for the latest project updates.
20th Street North Management & Programming
The 20th Street project that refreshed this vibrant and historically significant thoroughfare was completed in 2022. Utilizing Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funding, REV Birmingham acted as the project manager for the capital project and is still under contract to manage maintenance and programming through 2026.

Linn Park Refresh Planning
In 2022, REV Birmingham contracted an award-winning landscape architecture firm to lead a community engagement process and reimagined plan for Linn Park, which you can see at the link below. REV Birmingham and the Linn Park Planning Steering Committee are now working with the City of Birmingham to determine the best model for sustainable funding and management for a refreshed Linn Park.

Downtown BHM Branding
The BHM (Birmingham Has More) brand was created in 2020 to cohesively, succinctly and simply position the Birmingham region for economic growth, an effort led by a combination of economic development partners including the Birmingham Business Alliance, Jefferson County, REV Birmingham and the City of Birmingham.
An offshoot of the Greater Birmingham Region’s brand is that of Downtown BHM, which is shepherded by the Downtown BHM BID and REV Birmingham. Click below to discover projects large and small that live under the BHM brand — including the creation and management of this website!

So much to do

Always something new
