We’ve made it to the third and final public workshop for Re-vision Linn Park! Partners behind Re-Vision Linn Park will wrap up the community engagement process at the last public workshop on Tuesday, October 4, at Boutwell Auditorium. Community members can participate and provide feedback on a park design concept in the noon or 5:30 p.m. session – so come out one last time and let your voice be heard!


Activating the streets of downtown Birmingham with talent from all over the Magic City

We are Live on 20th folks! Have you been downtown and checked out our busker performances yet? If not, you’re seriously missing out! We have talent from all over The Magic City come out on Friday evenings from 4-6 p.m. and put on performances for the public to enjoy. Performances take place at the corner of 20th Street and 3rd Avenue North. Next time you’re heading home after a long day at the office or on your way to dinner, stop by and check it out! Cheers to A.G. Gaston Motel Restoration! Let’s keep historic preservation rolling in Birmingham

Birmingham is celebrating the restoration of the A.G. Gaston Motel, a historic landmark in the Civil Rights District. The building’s restoration has been a long time coming, and it’s a gift for Birmingham to have the preserved motel be a place where people can visit and learn. Congratulations to all the people from the City of Birmingham, the federal government and the community who labored to restore this treasure for many more generations to experience and enjoy. As a Downtown Ambassador Volunteer, your organization is the face and the heartbeat of The World Games 2022 serving more than 50,000 visitors from around the world. Volunteer groups will be stationed around Downtown Birmingham to provide information and a memorable, consistent experience for all City Center guests.


Celebrating the Birmingham Green Refresh with a (20th) Street Party!

We are approaching the finish line for the 20th Street Refresh, which calls for a celebration – and you’re invited! The City Center Business Improvement District (BID), funded by downtown property owners, is partnering with the City of Birmingham and REV Birmingham to celebrate a refreshed Birmingham Green. Come join the party on May 20th from 4 to 8 p.m (with a special celebration happening at 6 p.m.)!


Linn Park is getting a re-vision!

If you’ve been paying close attention, you may have noticed that we’ve been hinting at a new Linn Park project coming soon – and we’re finally ready to share it with you! A planning process to redesign and reactivate Linn Park kicked off recently when public and private organizational partners met on site with the nationally acclaimed park designers OJB Landscape Architecture (OJB) to begin an eight-month master plan development process to improve Linn Park.


Alabama Peanut Company: the evolution of a beloved downtown business

The Alabama Peanut Company has been around for ages and is a Downtown Birmingham staple. Not only do they serve delicious peanuts (both boiled and roasted) but the storefront serves as a reminder of people’s childhoods.
