CAP safety ambassadors are excited to welcome you to downtown Birmingham! As we patrol on foot, Segways and bikes, our visibility and attention often deter bad behavior and activities. We look for opportunities to help people and tidy up our district as we’re out and about.

Downtown Birmingham residents, workers and visitors are encouraged to call 205-251-0111 for assistance and to talk with any CAP ambassadors they encounter on foot, Segway or bike – if they don’t talk to you first!
Hours of Operation:
Please note that CAP services hours are subject to change based on district needs.
City Center
Monday – Saturday | 7 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
Sunday | 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Five Points South
Monday – Saturday | 7 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
Sunday | 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
The Switch
Monday – Friday | 7 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Look for CAP ambassadors in bright blue polos and/or neon yellow jackets across the service areas highlighted in the map below!
Downtown Birmingham’s Business Improvement District (BID) funds the CAP Clean & Safe Program to proactively patrol to look for opportunities to help. In the map below, the BID’s three subdistricts — City Center, The Switch and Five Points South — are highlighted in blue, purple and red respectively. CAP services began in The Switch and Five Points South on July 1, 2024. The yellow area is Railroad Park, which contracts CAP to provide services when called, but that area is not proactively patrolled.
